“I used to work as an inpatient hospice nurse and witnessed countless unexplainable occurrences. People frequently saw and/or visited with their deceased loved ones. However, the most astounding thing I observed was when I was caring for an unconscious man in his 60s. He had been in an accident in his 30s, which had left him paralyzed and unable to communicate. He’d been living in a skilled nursing facility for decades. I had been caring for him for several days, and spent quite a bit of time with him as he hadn’t had any visitors. He was nearing the end of life when his sister finally arrived to say goodbye. She flew into town that morning and sat with him for hours. Per his sister and the nursing facility’s report, he’d been in a comatose state for several months.”
“It was getting late in the evening, and his sister expressed that she needed a break, but was too afraid to leave him alone. I had a feeling he was getting close to passing away, so I offered to sit with him while she stepped out. I sat next to him while I worked on my charting at the bedside computer.
After a bit, I sensed I was being watched. I turned slowly to face him, and to my surprise, his eyes were wide open, and he was alert and intently watching me. Then he began to look around the room, his eyes undoubtedly tracking *something* in our presence. I quickly called his sister and asked her to return. She was back within minutes and held his hands as he peacefully passed away. It was eerily beautiful.”
