The twist? The “flashbacks” of Louise’s dead daughter are actually flash-forwards into her future. Louise knows, before it happens, that her daughter will die and her husband will leave her for knowing this information, but she chooses to pursue that life anyway in order to experience love in her life, even though she knows how it’s going to end.
