“Growing up, I used to be drawn to people (YouTubers and podcasters, mainly) who immediately had a confident opinion about everything as soon as a topic was brought up. I even made conscious efforts to become more like them.
It took me a good few years to understand that that doesn’t mean they are smart and know enough about everything to be able to form a valid opinion immediately. Nobody can possibly be that knowledgeable. Usually, it’s simply a sign of someone who doesn’t even consider that there could be anything they don’t know. The vast majority of topics are too complex for there to be only one valid opinion about them that you can know as soon as you first hear about them.”
