Taylor and Karlie were once so close that some fans speculated they were actually secretly dating. They seem to have met around 2013 and in subsequent years were frequently seen attending events, chilling out, and vacationing together.

Karlie posted an enthusiastic birthday message to Taylor on Instagram that December, but there seemed to be no interaction between the pair in the next year. Karlie did wish Taylor happy birthday in December 2017, but it didn’t put an end to speculation about what had gone down between the two.

In March 2018, Karlie told The New York Times, “Don’t believe everything you read,” and later that year she attended Taylor’s Reputation tour, posting about how “proud” she was and later telling Vogue that the pair were still “really good friends.”

But when Karlie married Joshua Kushner in 2018 and held another wedding in 2019, Taylor attended neither due to “prior commitments” — although Scooter Braun did attend the 2019 event and later was seen hanging out with Karlie not long after he had purchased Taylor’s masters.
