In case you didn’t know, there’s a movie about Melania Trump coming out this week.
Another fun fact about this whole thing is the wild price tag. According to CNN, Amazon MGM Studios acquired the film for $40 million and is spending another $35 million on marketing. That’s a lot for a movie about only 20 days in the First Lady’s life!!
Donald Trump appears to be part of the promotion plan, and a tweet encouraging people to get their tickets to the movie and saying it was “Selling out, FAST!” is going viral for all of the wrong reasons.
That doesn’t appear to be the case!
The replies are full of people sharing pictures of their local theaters looking like this:
Yeah, nada, like “every seat is still available” empty.
“Yeah, really ‘selling out fast.’ Just another lie,” one person wrote.
Another person joked, “Hurry or you might not get a seat!”
We have, “Release day, 9pm showing, smallest theater, not a single seat sold.”
And finally, “Opening night in Atlanta and… Not a single ticket sold for any showing all weekend. Zero. None.”
Then you have people saying they’d rather amputate a limb than watch this movie.
“I’d rather poke out my eye with a burnt stick.”
“Like millions of Americans, I am SO excited to not buy tickets for and to never see this movie!”
And finally, this person noticed the irony in Trump standing in front of the sign…
“Kind of sums it all up.”
