I’ll never forget the first time I had “the talk.” I was 8, playing Barbies with my 9-year-old sister, when my mom walked in — completely unprompted — because, I guess, she decided there was no better time than the present to talk to two preteen girls about, well, sex.
We sat at our pink and white Fisher Price table as she, to our horror, began to sketch out reproductive organs on our playroom’s chalkboard. She explained their purpose and function while my sister and I squealed and squirmed in our seats. It felt like forever before she bluntly asked whether we had any questions — and then left the room just as suddenly as she arrived. It was that awkward.
Now, I want to know — how did your parents talk to you about sex? Maybe you had a similar cringeworthy moment with your mom or dad. Maybe someone else gave you the talk. Or maybe you never had one and had to figure it out on your own.
Whatever your experience, I want to hear it. Share your story in the comments or through the Google form below if you prefer to be anonymous. It could be featured in a future BuzzFeed post.
