Jackass star Steve-O has apologized for “absurd” comments about immigrants.
During a Feb. 3 episode of his podcast Steve-O’s Wild Ride! with Canadian comedian Harland Williams, the Wildboyz star asked, “Why is it that so many people who don’t have this respect that you have are murderers?”
The “people” he was referring to were undocumented immigrants in the United States. When Harland asked him to clarify, Steve-O said, “So many of these people who are illegally in America, it’s like the majority of them are murderers.”
Now, he’s issued an apology via his Instagram in response to the fallout. “I have been just as horrified and saddened by the atrocities committed by ICE as everyone else, so it’s come as a complete shock to me that anyone thought I was serious when I made an absurd, sarcastic comment about ‘most immigrants being murderers.'”
“Factually, less than 0.1% of the human population will ever commit homicide, so of course I don’t believe that. If there’s a group of people more likely to murder anyone, it would be ICE agents, not immigrants,” Steve-O continued.
“To all of the people sending me angry messages: apologies for the false alarm,” he added. “I promise you, I wasn’t being serious at all. Man, what a bummer to be misunderstood around that one…”
There were a lot of people in the comments upset that Steve-O walked back his statement in the comment section of his IG post.
But, since I don’t want to give those negative comments the time of day, here are some people who appreciated Steve-O’s apology.
