Despite this clarity, Trump has played with the idea of a third term more than once.

During a reception Trump hosted at the White House in honor of Black History Month, he said, “Should I run again? You tell me.” To which the crowd began chanting, “Four more years.” 

Then, when speaking to Republican governors, he said he’d been told he cannot run again, but he’s “not sure.”

And most recently, he referred to himself as “King.”
