“Staying in bed all day actually sucks.”
“There are days I feel so tired it’s hard to stay awake for more than a few hours at a time. Other times, I’m in so much pain it hurts to even lie down (but that’s still better than being upright). I want to be awake and mobile; I want to take care of myself. But I feel so sick that I couldn’t even do something I enjoy, let alone the things I have to do.
Being able to work for a few hours does not mean I can also commute to a job and take care of my basic needs. Each of these tasks requires physical, mental, and emotional energy that many disabled people do not have enough of. Also, disability in the United States is not easy to get (at least a two-year wait, and you should expect to be rejected the first time), and if you can get it, it’s not enough to survive on.”
Or at least, it'll give it a good guess.View Entire Post ›
