“I didn’t vote for him in the last election, but I did in 2020. For me, the January 6 event was a big deal, but it didn’t quite push me over the line. What did was hearing someone I admire greatly — Darrell Davis, a Black blues musician — saying on a podcast that Trump’s rhetoric reminded him of leaders in the KKK and how they radicalize people. The fact that this amazing man said that Trump reminded him of all of the racists that he has talked to over the past decades really planted a seed in me. I couldn’t call him ‘woke.’ I couldn’t just dismiss him. All it takes is for a seed to be planted.”
