“If you don’t give people that option, then they will forgo healthcare until an emergency. We cannot expect doctors to refuse treatment to those in dire need. That would be cruel to the doctor AND the patient, and we do absorb those ER costs in our own hospital bills. It’s not impossible to provide cheaper treatment to those individuals. I’ve been to the hospital in both the UK and France. When I inquired about payment, they laughed at me. I didn’t even have to fill out forms. It just wasn’t an issue. So it’s not impossible. We need to find a better way.”
