“London is so much better if you skip central (by that I mean Oxford Street, Leicester Square, etc) and immerse yourself in one of many different ‘ends’. E.g.:”
“- East London: Stay around Bethnal Green/Haggerston, etc, and have a weekend of live music, breweries, markets, and park jaunts.
– South East London: Stay in Peckham and do the same as East, really, just the SE version of it.
– West: Stay in Notting Hill/Holland Park kind of area and stroll around said areas and Portobello Road vintage shopping, etc.
– South West: Stay in Richmond, hire a boat, do the park, Petersham Nurseries, and Kew Gardens, etc.
Acceptable diversions to central-ish include the South Bank, Bermondsey, Angel, and Exmouth Market, but I’d honestly skip the rest of it. Even Borough Market is unbearable now, and Shoreditch ain’t what it used to be.”
“To add, definitely avoid Camden Market. Shops are selling the same things, over and over, and very few shops are unique. Food is definitely better elsewhere. Felt very tourist-trap.”
“100000% Camden hasn’t been cool since the early 2010s at the latest.”
