“He spent my money. I never really realized the extent of the damage he caused until we ended our relationship a year later. I was working full-time, and he worked part-time at an auto parts store while attending school. His parents were wealthy, so I thought they were just trying to teach him some responsibility with money; he didn’t actually have to work a job. Meanwhile, I had a car payment, was living at home, but was still buying groceries and helping with bills.”
“He up and ghosted me at the end. So, I contacted his mom and asked if I could come get my things from their house. I took my TV, clothes, and his new PlayStation. She told me to take anything I thought was mine. After talking with them, they wanted me to email all my statements to show where he had spent my money. It took a couple of months, but they paid me back everything, including interest. They were amazing people. I’m not sure what happened with their son.”
