“I had picked my daughter up from her mother’s place. My daughter was still car seat age. My car broke down an hour away from home. I was stranded between two exits. I had forgotten my phone and wallet and only had a small amount of cash. So I got my daughter and started walking to the nearest exit to possibly find help.”
“Not 30 seconds after I start walking along the highway with my daughter in arms, this family stopped to help. No judgement, but I could tell they were down on there luck. I told them my story, they had three kids in their car. They put their car seat in the trunk and the mom sat with their three kids in the back while my daughter sat in my lap upfront.
They stopped for gas and brought my daughter a drink. I was headed south and they told me they were headed west. So they ended up taking us home which was completely out of the way. Right before we arrived a huge storm hit, and it was raining hard.
We finally got back. I thanked them profusely. I offered them money, bathroom, food, snacks…. They asked for nothing in return then drove off into the rain filled evening. They went two hours out of their way to help us. I’m still blown away by this and use it as a reminder to help people when I can. This was over 20 years ago and I truly hope they are doing well.”
