People Are Sharing The Nightmare Living Situations That Finally Made Them Move Out, And Oh My God

6.

“Our landlord had inherited the house from her parents and rented it out to raise the money needed to drag it into this century. She had it in our lease that we weren’t to have more than five people in the house without her written permission (there were four of us). There were also no overnight guests or men allowed for any reason at all. We also couldn’t do anything to ‘damage’ her garden, and the lease stated she could come over to garden at any time. Once, I was showering with the bathroom window open, and she stuck her head through the open window and INTO THE SHOWER to yell at me about leaving the window open. She would try the doors when she came by and would walk in if she found one unlocked. That, or she’d pop up at your bedroom window.”

“One day, we came back from classes to find a hole in the living room wall where a window had been. She said she was having it replaced. Instead, she sent a guy over to cover it with a trash bag since we were ‘being such babies about a bit of cold air.’ There were so many other issues, but the absolute worst was when the WALLS started to sweat in winter. The house was always pretty chilled (she never did replace that window), but the second we turned on the heat, water started trickling down every exterior wall in the house. I found mold on my comforter and the wall it was up against. I told my roommates, who all found the same in their rooms. The landlord told me it had always done that. She never told us because ‘who puts furniture against the wall?’ The mold got so bad that we ended up using diluted bleach to wipe down the walls every couple of days. We got the mold tested after we all got sick. It was black mold. We warned off the girls who had signed on for the next year, and when our landlord called to complain, I told her they had been concerned about the mold issue. She said it was best they didn’t move in then, because she didn’t want any more whiny crybabies.”
