Let’s talk about things at American supermarkets that non-Americans find weird and unsettling.
First of all, there’s the cereal aisle. We have about 274 brands to choose from.
Need pasta sauce? There’s 52 of those.
And don’t get me started on sauces. We’ve got a buttload.
But one section has some online truly baffled…
The coffee creamer section:
One tweet about it is going mega viral: “America has a problem and it’s coffee creamers cause what the fuck is this????”
Now, let’s dig into those comments.
You have the pro-creamers saying, “This is how I know I was born in the right generation I love coffee creamers.”
You have people complaining about their nutritional value: “Don’t look at the ingredients.”
A bunch of people pointed out this Christmas tree cake creamer (which honestly looks delish):
And, of course, the black coffee truthers with their usual, “I believe that if you add sugar and/or creamer to your coffee you don’t actually like coffee.”
Personally, I thought this anecdote was interesting, “I worked on a coffee creamer brand and let me tell you: there are a LOT of people out there – a LOT – going through a gallon or more of coffee creamer a week.”
Another tweet about the whole thing is also going viral, and it’s from non-Americans wondering what the hell this stuff is in the first place: “Ok I’ve been too scared to ask but what the fuck is coffee creamer?”
To which, I believe this best addresses their question:
So, where do y’all stand? Pro or anti-creamer? Let me know in the comments <3
