If Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham have one notable thing in common, it’s that they’re both children of wealthy, well-known individuals.
Brooklyn’s parents are David and Victoria Beckham, the British pop culture icons turned entrepreneurs, who I’m sure you’re already very familiar with.
And Nicola is the child of former model Claudia Heffner Peltz and billionaire investor Nelson Peltz. You may know less about these two, so here’s a bit of background.
Though he’s not a traditional celebrity like the Beckhams, Nelson — who has a reported net worth of $1.6 billion — is no stranger to navigating affairs in the public eye. He has close relationships with both Elon Musk and Donald Trump, and over the years, he’s been embroiled in a number of legal battles, including one 2024 lawsuit in which he reportedly said in court: “What sense is being a billionaire if you’re not a bully?” So, make of that what you will.
Since Brooklyn and Nicola tied the knot in 2022, there have been constant reports of a feud between them and the Beckham family. And last month, as I’m sure you know, Brooklyn broke his silence with an explosive statement confirming that he has no desire to “reconcile” with his parents.
In the 821-word statement posted to his Instagram Story, Brooklyn made a string of allegations against David and Victoria, including that he’d “been controlled” by them for most of his life, and that they’d “been trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with Nicola. You can read a full breakdown of the drama here.
As it stands, the Beckhams have not responded to Brooklyn’s claims. However, we do now have some new comments from the Peltz camp…
Appearing on stage at the WSJ Invest Live event on Feb. 3, Nelson fielded questions about managing family affairs in front of the world, with the interviewer comparing it to his experience “negotiating high-stakes situations, particularly playing out in public view.” “Has my family been in the press lately?” he replied playfully. “I haven’t noticed that at all.”
For context, Nicola is the third-youngest of Nelson’s ten children, and the WSJ reporter asked whether he gives his kids advice on navigating “such situations.” In response, the 83-year-old said, “I do. My advice is to stay the hell out of the press. How much good did that do?”
Perhaps hinting at longstanding reports of tension between the Beckham family and Nicola, specifically, Nelson added: “My daughter and the Beckhams are a whole other story. That’s not for coverage here today, but I’ll tell you my daughter’s great, my son-in-law, Brooklyn, is great, and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together.”
Though the Beckham drama has been a source of public speculation for years now, this is the first time that Nelson has commented on the situation directly. As we said, David and Victoria have continued to stay silent, but inside sources suggest that they’re deeply upset by Brooklyn’s estrangement.
“David and Victoria love Brooklyn and are afraid of losing their son,” a source recently told People, denying that they “dislike Nicola.” “They would take him back in a minute.”
We’ll keep you posted with any updates.
