“My Mom Wants Me To Die In An Accident”: Parents Who Are Making 2026 A Living Hell For Their Kids

25.

And, “My mom, who is 50, refuses to get a job because she says her health is bad and she’s been out of work for over 15 years, so no one will hire her for a high salary. She refuses to get a low-salary job. She lives with me and off my money. I finally asked her what she’s doing with her life and what her life plan is because I can’t afford her anymore. And I don’t know what she’s gonna do for the rest of her life, how she’s gonna fund it. She started guilt tripping me that the other day when she broke my vase and didn’t tell me and didn’t apologize to me that I ‘hurt’ her when I said ‘you won’t apologize?’ My words apparently ‘cut deep,’ and I was ‘very angry at her.’ Mind you, I barely even said anything, nor did I raise my voice. I was only upset that my handmade vase broke, and she didn’t even let me know it, nor did she seem to care. It was the principle of the situation.”

“During this conversation today, she was making herself a victim, saying she’s too old to have a job. I told her that her health is bad because she’s been lying down all day for 15 years doing nothing. She’s way younger than all my friends’ parents, and all my friends’ parents still work and don’t rely on their kids.

I told her I’m coming from a place of care, and she responded with, ‘No, you’re coming from the fact that I’m your burden and I’ve become useless to you when I don’t have money, and now I realize how I’m treated by you and your siblings when I don’t have money. I raised you with my money, but now that I don’t have any, you treat me like I’m useless.’ So suddenly it’s my fault for being born, not going to work at five years old, and not being able to afford to retire her in my mid-twenties? Ok.

I myself have a disability and had to learn how to walk all over again last year, so I’m already dealing with a lot of REAL serious health issues of my own, and need to save up for physiotherapy and a personal trainer to gain my strength back. But she doesn’t even feel bad that I can’t even afford this because I’m here supporting her.”
