Moms Are Revealing Nauseating Examples Of Daddy Privilege That Still Exist Today

Toxic Daddy Privilege Examples Exposed By Moms

If you weren’t aware, society still holds dads to a lower standard than moms. If you don’t believe me, read this.

So, u/krakatoasoot is a mom sick of this dynamic, and she asked fellow moms of the Reddit community to share some examples of “Dad Privilege” that they resent. But, first, she shared a few things she personally experiences 🥴…

1.

According to her, dads get a pass for: “Taking a 15-minute, private poop break whenever they want” while moms just have to joke about getting zero free time or privacy.

2.

She also said that most dads are still getting to sleep more than a couple of hours at a time, and definitely more than five hours total per night… unlike many moms who do it all because it is still so normalized.

3.

u/Msmomma27 said that society doesn’t expect dads to know every facet of their child’s existence like moms do. “They don’t need to memorize medical history, upcoming holidays, school schedules, medical and family appointments, which drawers clothes go in, what kids need for snacks/clothes/school theme days, clothing sizes, or shoe sizes. They only get away with not knowing because the burden falls 100% on moms.”

4.

“Anytime my husband is left alone with our four-year-old, the grandparents jump at taking her and helping out. Whenever it’s me? Oh, it’s just a normal day. Like this weekend, I was away for my sister’s bachelorette, and my mom insisted on taking my daughter for the whole day on Saturday so my husband had a completely free day to himself. Yet whenever I have her and let’s say he’s at work or with his friends, it’s nothing for me,” explained u/jessfm.

5.

u/fedupwithallyourcrap hates that dads are expected to: “Spend an entire weekend doing projects in the shed/yard while mom is stuck inside wrangling the kids and all the household chores.”

6.

“Dads are praised for being with their own kids alone in public. ‘Oh, is Dad babysitting today?!’ ‘Giving mommy a break with a day out with dad, huh?’ NO, HE’S THEIR PARENT,” u/educatedvegetable couldn’t have said better.

7.

u/DiscriminatoryRose also shared her experience, “I was a stay-at-home-mom and I was so jealous that he could eat lunch out every day, and dinner on the way home. I had to cook, managing two sets of allergies and one neurospicy food need for every meal and snack. (Besides the doctors and home-care, and other childcare stuff, etc.)”

8.

And u/mommasaursrex hates the double standards. “No matter what he does, he’s a great dad. I’m almost always ‘just’ a mom or even a bad mom when I do the same things.”

9.

Some dads also play into weaponized incompetence, and many people find it amusing. u/Quiet_Goat8086 admits she has experienced it, “They have the ability to completely overlook the thing you’ve asked them to find. One time it was a bag of frozen tater tots, and after he swore he couldn’t find them, they we literally on the top of everything in the freezer!”

10.

And, lastly, an anonymous commenter dislikes how dads get to simply be “sick when they’re sick” while moms aren’t given that luxury.

Okay, we know you have more to add, so drop them in the anonymous comments form below — or call them out in the comments!
