“It’s Like Watching The Craziest Reality TV Show Ever”: 19 Things Australians Actually Think About America

“The government is not sincere when it comes to looking after its people. I suspect it’s because all that money goes into things that keep your country in a powerful position, e.g. your war machine and that would include surveillance.

The money and power is in the hands of a few, who simply don’t care about the ordinary people. The political system seems to be all about personality, twisted power battles, and there’s little focus or ACTION on actually looking after the ordinary people.

With all the sophisticated words that come out of Americans mouths, the country seems so barbaric in so many ways. For instance, your gun laws. The intense enmity between the two parties (it’s impossible to hear any other voices). It appears that the civil war has never ended. These are all impressions that I get as an outsider. However, everyone I’ve ever known who has been to your country, or lived there, absolutely loves it. The land and the people.”
