“It’s Gonna Be Easy”: Here’s Bad Bunny’s Advice For Non-Spanish Speakers Before The Super Bowl

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Show: No Spanish Required

We are two sleeps away from Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime takeover, and all I can is LFG!

On Thursday, the three-time Grammy award winner, including Album of the Year (put some respect on Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio’s name), appeared in a pre-Super Bowl halftime show interview with Apple Music hosts Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden to talk about what millions of viewers can expect when he takes the halftime stage.

“It’s 13 minutes of doing something that I love, that I like,” Bad Bunny said, as he dipped in and out of Spanish within the interview. “And I’m trying to enjoy it, and I know that I’m gonna have fun. All the crew, all the people, they’re gonna have fun that day.”

Previously, Benito said people had just a few months to brush up on their Spanish. But if you have a crying Duolingo icon on your smartphone home screen like me, Bad Bunny doesn’t want you to fret.

“It’s gonna be easy,” Bad Bunny assured. “I know I told people they had four months to learn Spanish; they don’t even have to learn Spanish. It’s better if they learn to dance. There’s not a better dance that can come from the heart. The heartbeat dance? That’s the only thing that they need to worry about, and have fun and enjoy. And of course, choose your team at the game.”

Of course, Zane and Ebro tried to get details about any special guest stars for the halftime show. “You know that’s something that I’m not gonna tell you,” Bad Bunny laughed, keeping his plans safely tucked under that adorable bunny skullcap. “I don’t know why you ask that.” Instead, he expertly diverted. “Well, of course, I think I have a lot of guests, there’s gonna be my family, my friends,” he said. “All the Latino community around the world that supports me and believes in me. And the whole country. There’s a lot of people that love me around the world.” Well played.

But fans know Bad Bunny has some very famous artist friends he considers family, like Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin. And his collaborators include everyone from Cardi B to, dare I say, Beyoncé herself. So Super Bowl viewers may be in for some star-studded surprises.

If you know anything about Bad Bunny, you already know that he puts culture and history in everything he does. So we can likely predict that there will be nods to la isla of Puerto Rico, and a celebration of Latino music, dance, and style. Trust that a lot of culture is going to happen in those 13 minutes of show time.

“It’s gonna be a huge party,” Benito confirmed. “It’s gonna be what people always can expect from me… Of course, a lot of my culture. But I really don’t wanna give any spoilers. It’s gonna be fun.”

The people of Twitter are pumped for halftime, and are getting their dance moves ready:

I know I don’t have to tell you that Super Bowl Sunday is February 8. But how are you celebrating Benito Bowl on Sunday? Let me know in the comments!
