John Carter was failed by its marketing. I remember watching it, having a fun time, looking it up later, and being blown away by how ahead of its time it was. Why didn’t they play up that aspect in the marketing?

I saw it on a whim, but if they leaned into the historical aspect of the movie I think it would have done far better. Very cool.”
