With love, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.
Whether that’s due to timing, distance, or simply not knowing how to love right yet. That’s probably why so many of us have that special person — the one that got away — lingering in the back of our minds.
In this story we covered older adults sharing their thoughts on “the one that got away.” The responses that came in ranged from heartbreaking to acceptance. Now, we’re curious about your thoughts on that special someone who got away. What would you want to say to them?
Are you raising a middle finger and saying, “Good riddance, you weren’t all that great?”
Or, “dang, I wish we knew better. I wish we had known then how to apologize, how to compromise, and to nurture the love we had.”
Or, maybe, you’re grateful. Grateful to have experienced that kind of burning love, but happy to leave it in the past. It was a beautiful lesson that led you to another great love — a lasting one.
Those who have experienced the heartbreak of having someone that got away, what would you like to say to them? What happened? Let us know in the comments!
