When I was in 3rd grade, my class’s assistant teacher Ms. Lauren went on her honeymoon to the Seychelles. When she got back she told us all about it, and later she and her husband even named their dog after the country. I remember thinking that was the coolest thing. The funny part is that I had absolutely no idea where the Seychelles actually were on a map — I just knew one thing for sure: they were in Africa.
That memory popped back into my head while I was thinking about geography quizzes. It made me wonder how many African countries I could actually name from memory today. So I put together a quick challenge: can you name every country in Africa in under five minutes?
The list includes the 55 countries in the African Union — so it’s a pretty good test of how much geography you’ve got stored away in your brain. Give it a shot and see how you do.
