My mother-in-law swears no version will ever top the BBC ’90s Colin Firth classic. I feel the same way about the 2005 Keira Knightley film (nostalgia might be clouding my judgment, but whatever). Will I binge the new Netflix version? 1000%. Will it dethrone my faves? Unless Greta Gerwig is secretly directing, probably not. But with Dolly Alderton (writer extraordinaire) and Euros Lyn (AKA the director of a personal favourite, Heartstopper) behind it, maybe my skepticism is premature.
