I Tried Puppy Yoga And Had The Best Experience

I Took A Yoga Class Filled With Puppies And All I Could Focus On Was Them

If the thought of doing yoga, while being surrounded by endless puppies sounds like a dream, then keep on reading along!

The founder, Sophie Hessler, came up with the idea after years of coping with anxiety through fitness, and realizing that she was meant to help people, as well as dogs, too.

What really sparked her interest was coming to the conclusion that she could combine her interest in fitness and dogs into one. She created puppy yoga as a way of giving back and helping dogs to get adopted.

With her background as an art director, and graphic designer, Sophie already had the tools to sell her vision, and really market it to what would later become Woof Wellness in 2022.

The class offers 60-minute sessions throughout the week, and each one may vary in the amount of puppies that show up.

And what makes Woof Wellness so special is knowing each puppy is coming from local rescues, all from New York City. And don’t worry, each ticket includes a donation to rescues.

When it was time for my first class, there were four pups available for adoption, including this adorable one that already had a potential adopter in mind.

At the start of each class, they prepare you for the puppies to come out, and when they do, it’s total madness — but in the best way possible.

Now when I came in for my class, I planned on participating, but was quickly enthralled with all the energy these puppies had.

So much so, that even instructor Simone Bart was happily distracted!

As someone who finds it hard to consistently enjoy yoga, this was the first class where I knew I would be back.

The class was playful, calming, and exciting. And in this puppy’s case, relaxing, as they couldn’t help but rest on the instructor.

And if you felt like you didn’t have enough time to spend with them during your workout, don’t worry, there is plenty of time to spend with them at the end.

At the end of the class, you get to enjoy — and take more time with — each pup, in hopes of them becoming adopted.

It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

And a time for these pups to get some more lovin’!

After our session had ended, we got a chance to meet Sophie’s own dog, who was excited to make an appearance.

It’s safe to say, this is truly a paw-ty, and I will be back.
