Nominated for 24 Primetime Emmy Awards and packed with memorable performances, characters, and writing, it’s safe to say that The Penguin is one of the best series of 2024. I’d even venture to say it’ll be regarded as one of HBO Max’s very best shows of the decade.

Mark Strong was the replacement actor used for the character of Carmine Falcone, but did you know that this was his third DC Comics role? That’s right — he played Sinestro in Green Lantern (2011) and Dr. Sivana in Shazam! (2019). Stop typecasting my fellow bald man as a villain!

We almost got a needless Batman cameo. That’s right, the idea was floated around at one point by Reeves and showrunner Lauren LeFranc. The concept had Victor encountering the Caped Crusader. Luckily, the idea was scratched, and the ending bat signal was enough to remind everyone that “vengeance” is out there waiting for Oz.

The majority of the interior of the Falcone mansion was built entirely from scratch. Since the audience had already seen the grittiness of Gotham in The Batman, there was more freedom for set designers to create brand new designs.
