In the new episode of The Kardashians, Kim and her sister Khloé reminisced about old relationships and looked at some of Kim’s engagement rings — but one was notably missing.
After recalling her ring from her first husband, Damon Thomas, who she was married to from 2000 to 2004, she spoke about her infamous marriage to former NBA player Kris Humphries, who she wed in August 2011 — only to divorce him 72 days later.
When Kris memorably popped the question on camera, he gave Kim a 16.5-karat emerald ring with 2 karats of diamonds from Lorraine Schwartz. However, despite holding on to her other engagement rings, Kim revealed that she no longer has the one from Kris. “I didn’t keep that,” she shared, before revealing the wild explanation. “I was pregnant with North, still married to him, and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in my divorce.”
So that she could move on with her life, Kim gave the ring back — and Kris went on to sell it at auction for $749,000 after it was initially purchased for $2 million. But to make things even more wild, Kim revealed that Kris hadn’t even fully paid for the ring in the first place.
According to Kim, Kris contributed “a fifth” of the cost of the ring — which, in fairness, is still around $400k — while Kim covered the rest. Looking back, Kim said Lorraine Schwartz encouraged her that it was for the “best.” However, it seems Kim is still a little hung up about the loss. “I would have loved a collection,” she said.
