In case you somehow missed it, the two recently clashed over Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which Elon slammed for potentially increasing the national debt and undermining his work at DOGE. He further called it “a disgusting abomination” on X, setting off a war of words between him and Trump that saw Elon taking credit for the results of the 2024 election and alleging that Trump is “in the [Jeffrey] Epstein files,” which is “the real reason they have not been made public.”

After Elon expressed regret for some of the tweets, the White House said Trump was thankful and “appreciative” of his apology — however, it sounds like he’s certainly not forgiving or forgetting, as a source tells People the two remain on “so far from good terms.”

“Nobody trusts you again after you go that nuclear,” a source said.

A separate source echoed those comments, saying Trump and Elon’s relationship has gone from “love to transactional” to now one of “pure avoidance.”
