Almost a year after finalizing their divorce, the two reunited at the New York screening of Jennifer’s new movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman. Ben notably produced the film, which sees Jennifer playing the titular character.
“She’s amazing in the movie,” Ben told Extra on the red carpet. “I just can’t wait for the audiences to see this movie. I’m as proud of this movie as any that I’ve ever been involved with. I’m really, really excited to be here tonight.”
He went on to praise Jennifer for working “enormously hard” and delivering a “fabulous” performance in the film. He said, “This role, you get to see, like, all of her many gifts. You know, she’s somebody that grew up watching, you know, the classic musicals and, obviously, can do contemporary dance and all that… She really does it all in this movie — the acting and the singing and the dancing — and kind of embodies the whole spirit of it.” He added, “She’s fabulous, although that shouldn’t be any surprise to anyone.”
Naturally, the sight of them together again fans wondering about a possible reconciliation — but according to a source, that’s not at all what’s happening.
The source told People, “Jennifer’s doing well. She’s focused on things that make her happy — family and work.”
While the insider said she has “always enjoyed working with Ben,” they made it clear that there’s “no romantic reunion” with him.
“They’re in a really good place,” the source shared. “They continue to support each other. They’re both proud of what they accomplished together.”
Jen and Ben originally dated from 2001 to 2004, breaking up just before they were due to get married. They reunited in 2021 and married in 2022, but split last summer. Recently, Jennifer called the breakup “the best thing that ever happened to me.”
“Because it changed me,” she explained. “It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow.”
Ben, for his part, told GQ earlier this year that he still has “nothing but respect” for Jennifer.
