For the entirety of their seven-year, on-and-off relationship, Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin were one of the most private couples in the entire celebrity industrial complex.
They were so secretive that they were rarely photographed together, never publicly confirmed their alleged engagement, and still haven’t said a word about their reported split earlier this month.
Of course, the ex-pair’s relative silence hasn’t stopped the reports from filing in when it comes to the aftermath of their split. Earlier this month, it was reported that Dakota and Chris’ ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow had “formed a close friendship,” and the latter “fully intends on maintaining that bond.”
Now, People has new reports on how Dakota herself is doing — and it sounds like she’s picking up the pieces just fine on her own.
“Dakota’s doing well. The split wasn’t exactly a shock,” a source tells the publication, further claiming that her relationship with Chris “had the same issues for a while.”
“She wants to live her life very intentionally — she doesn’t want to have any regrets. She loves all her creative projects and is excited about her career. She believes there is more to life than work though. She wants a meaningful life on all levels.”
