Halle Berry hasn’t agreed to marry boyfriend Van Hunt…yet.
The rocker and actor have been together since 2020, first bonding virtually during quarantine. Halle has referred to him as the “love of [her] life” and even had an impromptu “commitment ceremony” in 2021 when her son, Maceo, suggested she marry him.
As it turns out, Van has already proposed. In an interview with TODAY.com, he said, “So I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see…It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.”
As for why Halle hasn’t said yes, she explained, “Well, I’ve been married three times. Van has been married once, and so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t.”
“But I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” she continued. “We should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”
As for when she may accept the proposal, Halle said “soon.” In her Today show interview, she further affirmed, “We’ve been doing this for five years together. This is the longest relationship I’ve ever had. It’s the happiest [I’ve ever been]. When you find your person, you find your person. I now have found my person, finally.”
