Donald Trump has started talking about Greenland again.
He doubled down on Air Force One, telling reporters, “We need Greenland from a national security situation. It’s so strategic. Right now, Greenland is covered with Russian and Chinese ships all over the place. We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security. And Denmark is not gonna be able to do it.”
Stephen Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, even posted this picture and captioned it “SOON.”
So, world leaders have condemned this.
Greenland’s neighbor, Iceland said, “Greenland is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Nothing about Greenland without Greenland. Iceland stands in full solidarity behind our friends.”
Denmark, which Greenland is a part of, said: “The US has no right to annex any of the three nations in the Danish kingdom.”
And Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen released a statement saying, “Our country is not an object of superpower rhetoric. We are a people. A country. A democracy. This has to be respected.”
He also released a statement on Facebook:
In that statement, he said, “Enough is enough. No more pressure. No more innuendo. No more fantasies of annexation.”
For his part, Trump said, “We’ll worry about Greenland in two months. Let’s talk about Greenland in…20 days.”
