Vivian Wilson, Elon Musk’s estranged daughter, responded after Musk and Gavin Newsom got into an online spat over trans rights.
It started when America, a PAC founded by Elon Musk, shared a clip from a recent interview of Newsom’s with the New York Times, where he said, “I want to see trans kids. I have a trans godson. There’s no governor who has signed more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBTQ community.”
Now, it is worth noting that the clip was in context of Newsom explaining his views on trans women in sports, which he has historically said he agreed with Charlie Kirk on. Indeed, earlier this year, Newsom said he thought it was “deeply unfair” for trans women to compete, which provoked intense backlash — making him hardly the most progressive of the Democrats on the issue. In fact, right after the end of the chosen clip, he said, “But you have to accommodate the reality of those whose rights are being taken away as we advance the rights of the trans community, in terms of the fairness of athletic competition. And I just think that’s not a bigoted position.”
Still, if Laura Loomer’s response was anything to go by, the MAGA crowd were incensed by Newsom’s views on trans kids, immediately jumping to the right-wing talking point that the existence of trans kids means that children are being “mutilated”:
In turn, Newsom’s press office reposted the video with a personal shot at Elon: “We’re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon.”
Elon himself then chimed in to misgender his daughter and claim that she has “a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus”:
Meanwhile on Instagram, Vivian changed her bio to read, “tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus.”
She further shared a new drag performance where Elon’s tweet flashed on screen with the caption, “Touch grass holy shit.”
But that’s not all. Ted Cruz got involved, calling Newsom a “sick bastard” for his comment:
