Former Students, Professors, And An Expert Are Sharing Their Advice For Heading Off To University, And It’s Actually Really Helpful

10.

“Go to class. Even if you’re tired, hungover, you look like shit, you’re just gonna zone out – going is always better than not going. You’ll absorb SOME information by sheer osmosis.”

“If you’re struggling with an assignment or your workload, talk to your professors and/or TAs – it is so easy for things to pile up and to get super behind, especially in your first year(s) as you’re learning how to structure your own time and be responsible for deadlines.

Professors and TAs are literally there because they WANT to be teaching you, and they WANT you to succeed in the class, but they aren’t going to know you need help unless you ask. Go to office hours – a professor who knows you and knows you’re interested is also a professor who is more likely to grade kindly and give you an extension if you need it. And if you’re in the US especially, you’re paying A LOT of money for this, take advantage of every opportunity.”
