Everything We Know About The “Game Of Thrones” Spin- Off “A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms”

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: Everything We Know

Welcome back to Westeros! A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, yet another Game of Thrones spin-off, will premiere this weekend on HBO.

The series will bring the story of Dunk and Egg to your TV screens. Although Game of Thrones fans will be familiar with the family names that dominate this story, there are all-new characters to acquaint themselves with.

Here’s everything we know about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms so far:

1.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on a series of novellas by George R. R. Martin.

2.

The series takes place 72 years after House of the Dragon and 100 years before Game of Thrones.

3.

The official synopsis of the show introduces us to, “a young, naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

4.

Studious Game of Thrones fans will recall that Egg is the Night Watch Maester Aemon’s brother.

5.

Martin claims the series is a faithful adaptation of his books.

6.

Martin also warned viewers that this series would have less action than Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.

7.

The cast is stacked, with Peter Claffey playing Ser Duncan and Dexter Sol Ansell playing Egg. Here is the full cast:

8.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on January 18, 2026, and is a 6-part series.

9.

Two trailers have been released for the series so far. The teaser trailer introduces us to Ser Duncan, who is burying his mentor and seeking to make a name for himself, and Egg, a curious young boy eager to become a squire.

The second, and final trailer, gives fans a little more to digest. It appears Ser Duncan has gotten off on the wrong foot with the Targaryens and must duel for his life. The tone of the show also seems a bit more light-hearted than the grim backdrop of previous Westeros-themed shows, although I’m sure it will have its share of gore and heartbreak.

11.

This will be the first Game of Thrones series without any dragons.

12.

HBO head of drama Francesca Orsi says A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was much cheaper to produce than other Game of Thrones shows.
