A 55-year-old man rushed the podium during Omar’s remarks about immigration customs enforcement (ICE) and sprayed her with an unknown substance.
The man was quickly apprehended by security and arrested. Despite suggestions to end the town hall early to see a doctor, Omar continued with her remarks.
Both Omar and her press office have addressed the attack and confirmed the congresswoman’s safety. The congresswoman tweeted, “I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work.”
People think Omar was seemingly getting ready to take a swing at her attacker. One post reads, “she was literally going to beat his ass…..”
Obviously, people are here for The Swing™️. “She needs more political power immediately,” one user tweeted in response to a picture of Omar with her arm wound back.

Here’s what he said after an ABC reporter asked if Trump had seen the video of Omar being sprayed:
“No. I don’t think about her. I think she’s a fraud. I really don’t think about that. She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her,” Trump told ABC.
A swift backlash followed Trump’s odd-as-hell (but not surprising) response. “He is just a repugnant and awful human being at every level. Zero redeeming qualities or characteristics to be found in him,” someone wrote.
“Not surprising. But appalling and unacceptable nonetheless.”
