FX received a total of 35 nods and Hulu raked in 23, bringing its overall haul to 58. This is significantly less than last year (not every year can be a Shōgun year!), but still an impressive showing when you look at its dominance in the major acting categories.
The Handmaid’s Tale is out (mostly), and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is in.
These were just two Hulu/FX surprises to come out of the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominations Tuesday morning.
Speaking of which, perhaps the least surprising development was that The Bear led the pack for the network, earning 13 nominations in its third season — including for Ayo Edibiri’s directing on the episode “Napkins.”
