It was a lively, nostalgic affair full of familiar and new faces, a spinning wheel of “fail” prizes, and, most notably, a preview of what’s to come in the future! Because, for fans of BuzzFeed Video, it’s coming back, baby, with an exciting new lineup!
Current BuzzFeeders, BuzzFeed alums, and creators stopped by to chat with host Joyce Louis-Jean on what they’ve been up to, future projects, pop culture moments, and some of their favorite memories creating some of the most viral content on the internet. Here are a few memorable moments and a peek into what’s in store for BuzzFeed Video:
1.
Joyce Louis-Jean and Lindsay Webster will soon host a podcast series, Phone a Fangirl, where they’ll talk to everyone’s favorite celebs. Basically, to quote Lindsay, the theme of the series is: “When you gag, we gag.”
2.
Members of the Pero Like team — Carolina Reynoso, Monica Moore-Suriyage, and Alex Canales chatted about what’s to come on the channel, and they promised more food, celeb, and personality content. Plus, more “sexy accents” coming up soon, said Alex.
3.
Ryan Bergara, who used to host Unsolved, a series unlocking true crime and supernatural mysteries, spoke about his memories on his first Unsolved trip, where he was almost robbed and nearly died. But that’s not the scariest experience he had on the job. That would be the trip to Old City Jail in South Carolina, where he recalled blacking out and “growling like a dog.”
4.
There were also quite a few fashion moments in the retrospective Live. Brent Bennett, who once co-hosted the series with Ryan, wore his Corgi t-shirt in honor of reunion, and Ryan, who was busy editing all day, realized he had worn his shirt inside out.
5.
Hannah Williams of Mom In Progress has good news to share — the series is coming back! Fans might remember the videos where Hannah shared content of being a mom, raising three boys (now with the addition of a baby girl!), trying out unique food challenges, and spending quality time with her family. Starting Friday, 3 all-new episodes will stream on BuzzFeed Video!
6.
Down the pipeline, a new show will premiere called Gay & Trying, where two best buds, Alex Hinsky and Dylan Schmoll, will venture out to try things. According to Alex, they have a special kind of creative partnership formed by equal parts creative and logistical, that yin and yang type of friendship that makes for a great duo for adventures. Some of the things they’ll try include fishing (which will be Dylan’s first time), a haunted house, and a surprise that includes a “victim” who attended the Reunion Live. 👀
7.
If you’ve ever bed rotted scrolling through the hundreds of items in TikTok’s shop but were hesitant in clicking purchase, a video called Opening TikTok Shop’s Most Bizarre Items will take care of that for you, starring one of BuzzFeed’s “next-gen” Video fellows, Andrew. He’ll test out the strangest, weirdest items in TikTok’s shop and share them with curious viewers.
9.
Mike Rose, a long-time BuzzFeed alum, is currently working on his first feature, a “big, gay comedy” movie! But his connection to BuzzFeed isn’t over. He’ll be collaborating on his film with fellow BuzzFeeders, who he’s dubbed as the “most talented people” he’s ever met.
10.
Try Guys’ Keith Habersberger answered a curious fan question on whether he actually goes back to the places he films his viral food content at. Yes, he does, he answered. In fact, he counts Los Angeles Indian fusion spot, Badmaash, as one of his faves. He goes back for their catfish, butter chicken, fried chicken sandwich, and loves their Masala fries, which are like Indian-style poutine fries. Yum!
