Unfortunately for all of the people who love to complain about celebrity drama (yet, for some reason, always click on news articles about it), the Beckham family feud doesn’t look like it’ll be out of the headlines any time soon, with the DJ from Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham’s wedding now entering the chat. And what he had to say is seriously interesting.
In addition to shedding some more light on that now-infamous dance between Brooklyn and his mom, Victoria Beckham, at the wedding, DJ Fat Tony, real name Tony Marnoch, opened up about the seriously uncomfortable vibe at the wedding brunch the day after the nuptials, where everybody was apparently talking about what went down the night before.
In case you missed it, 26-year-old Brooklyn sparked shockwaves on Monday when he took to his Instagram story to share a six-post statement about his long-rumored feud with his famous family. In the statement, Brooklyn made a whole heap of allegations against his mom and dad, as well as his younger brothers, Romeo and Cruz, claiming that his family has been consistently disrespectful toward Nicola, who is the daughter of controversial billionaire Nelson Peltz.

If you need reminding, Brooklyn and Nicola got married in 2022, and that same year, it became incredibly evident that all was not well between the newlyweds and the Beckhams. Shortly after the April nuptials, sources claimed that Nicola had been left upset after Victoria stole the show when Beckham family friend, Marc Anthony, gave a gushing speech about her.
At the time, she was accused of taking over Nicola and Brooklyn’s first dance, which was to a song performed by Marc. An insider told the Daily Mail: “Nicola left the room because she and Brooklyn thought Marc was introducing them for a special dance to a love song the couple had chosen, but without any warning and at the request of Victoria, Marc switched it to a mother-son dance using the same song.”
And these claims were given a breath of fresh air just last year, when a source told People: “Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding. Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, ‘The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up…Victoria Beckham!'”
The source went on to add that Nicola felt like Victoria “ruined her wedding, and couldn’t understand why,” with a second insider telling the publication: “It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock — you could hear a pin drop.” Victoria was said to have started slow-dancing with Brooklyn, and everyone then saw “Nicola run from the room crying.”
And Brooklyn confirmed this entire story in his statement, where he wrote: “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.” He also referenced that he and Nicola renewed their wedding vows in August 2025, with — notably — only Nicola’s family present. Brooklyn said: “We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
Needless to say, Brooklyn’s choice of words caused a pretty big stir across social media, with many left curious about what dancing “very inappropriately on” meant. As you’ve probably seen, it sparked a whole ton of memes and joke tweets, and youngest Beckham boy, Cruz Beckham, suggested that he could see the funny side of the very messy situation as he was caught liking some of these playful posts on Instagram.
Through it all, various people have come forward with their thoughts and theories about what could have possibly gone down between Victoria and Brooklyn on that dance floor. But now, we no longer have to speculate because the event’s DJ, Fat Tony, shared all during an appearance on the British daytime show This Morning on Friday. For reference, Tony is the Beckhams’ go-to DJ for their parties, and this was far from the first time that he has worked for them.
And Tony immediately came through with the tea as he opened up about the aftermath of the dance and how it impacted the rest of the wedding celebrations. He said: “I was the DJ at the wedding; it wasn’t a one-day wedding, it was a three-day wedding. I did the welcome party, then I did the wedding, and then I did the brunch on the Sunday, which was the most awkward part of it all because everything that had gone on on the actual wedding night was discussed amongst all the guests the next morning.”
“Why I’m here is to talk about the word ‘inappropriate,’” Tony went on. “There was no slut dropping, there was no black PVC catsuit, there was no Spice Girls action… I said it was inappropriate as well because, at the time, it was the timing.”
“Basically, Marc Anthony was performing on stage, he then called Brooklyn onto stage. Brooklyn went onto the stage, everyone’s expecting it to be Nicola to go up and do the first dance, and then he, Marc Anthony, asks the most beautifulest woman in the room to come to the stage, and then he says: ‘Victoria, come up to the stage,’” he explained. “So, Victoria is by the stage, she goes onto the stage, and at this point, Brooklyn’s suddenly literally devastated because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife.”
“Then Nicola leaves the room, crying her eyes out,” Tony recalled. “Brooklyn’s stuck there on stage, and then they do this dance and Marc Anthony is like: ‘Go put your hands on your mother’s hips,’ it was a Latin, you know? It’s a Latin thing, and the whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room. I’ve done an awful lot of Beckham parties in the past, and they’re a very dancy, close-knit family. They love to dance, right? This is all about how Brooklyn feels. If he felt it was inappropriate and awkward, then it was inappropriate.”
“It seems like it happened in the spur of the moment?” host Dermot O’Leary observed, to which Tony agreed: “It really was. And I think what’s sad is that this is the bit that everybody taken from this statement. They’ve kind of whitewashed everything else that went on.”
“But can we just look at this from another point of view in the sense of, really, why is Victoria getting blamed when it was Marc Anthony who put her in that situation and was egging it on as he went through the dance?” host Alison Hammond then argued. “It’s actually quite a difficult position to be in, so I can understand where Brooklyn’s coming from, and we believe everything that Brooklyn’s saying, but why didn’t he take that eight-page statement and send it to his parents?”
“He’s done all that, he’s spoken to them,” Tony said. “He got to the point, for him, where he can’t take this anymore and wanted to step back from it. And that was his way of closure.”
“What was the morning after the wedding like? What was people saying?” Alison asked, to which Tony spilled: “Well, you know, when the bride and the groom leave their own wedding devastated, word trickles out. Not many people turned up to the brunch, to say the least. But it was the talk of…you know, everyone was talking about it.”
“Everyone was talking about how sad that part of it was,” he added. “And I think that the dance is a very small part of the bigger problem.”
Tony’s interview comes as a source told People that Victoria and David are “horrified” by everything that is going on, and were left extremely upset by Brooklyn’s Instagram post. They shared: “They are afraid of losing their son and would take him back in a minute. They are a close family, too. Just in a different way than Nicola’s family is.”
“They love Brooklyn and are horrified about everything,” the insider went on. “David and Victoria believe time will heal this. They know that over time, Brooklyn will come back. They can’t really do anything until then.”
They also confirmed that Brooklyn and Nicola only speak with David and Victoria “through mediators.”
None of the Beckhams have publicly commented on the situation, although David made some telling remarks during a pre-arranged appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday. During a conversation about social media with CNBC’s Squawk Box, David said: “I’ve always spoken about social media and the power of social media, for the good and for the bad.”
“The bad we’ve talked about, with what kids can access these days. It can be dangerous, but what I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well; use it for the right reasons,” he continued. “I’ve been able to use my platform and my following for UNICEF, and it’s been the biggest tool to make people aware of what’s going on around the world for children.”
“I’ve tried to do the same with my children to educate them. They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn,” David went on. “So, that’s what I try to teach my kids. But you know, you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.”
To reiterate, David did not mention Brooklyn in any capacity during his appearance, and these quotes were part of a broader discussion on the dangers of social media.
