Let’s be honest, Jane Austen’s novels and the Bridgerton series don’t even have the same setting!
Jane Austen’s novels take place in the historical context of Regency-era England. The TV show Bridgerton, however, is a loose interpretation of the period, set in an alternate universe. As both a lover of Jane Austen and someone who enjoys Bridgerton, I’d say the differences far outweigh the similarities.
But when it comes to these quotes I selected, how obvious will the differences be to you? If you don’t remember the lines from either Austen’s books or the show, you’ll have to try to discern which seems to fit the overall vibe of one better than the other!
(Note: The Jane Austen quotes are from the novels, not the movie adaptations, and the Bridgerton quotes are from the Netflix TV show, not the books it is based on.)
