All The “Superman” Easter Eggs That You Didn’t Catch In Theaters

21 ‘Superman’ Movie Easter Eggs You May Have Missed

Superman is back, and the 2025 film has proven that kindness is the new punk rock. The film itself kept its foot on the gas the whole way, so it was easy to miss the little details with all the comic book excitement thrown your way. Clean your boots and get that “S” on your chest ready…

Here are 21 Superman (2025) easter eggs you (might have) missed:

1.

From the jump, we got the excellent new DC Studios graphic that showcased the original design for Superman breaking out of chains. This is indeed the 1938 Superman from “Action Comics #1” in all his glory.

2.

The most surprising cameo had to be John Cena as Peacemaker from the HBO Max show. Far from a “blink and you might miss it” moment. Still, for those unfamiliar with the popular series or his original appearance from James Gunn’s Suicide Squad (2021) in its second season, those fans were probably scratching their heads, wondering why they “could see” John Cena.

3.

The brother of James Gunn, Sean Gunn, made a brief cameo. It seemed like a throwaway laugh about Lex Luthor “sucking,” but it is surprisingly essential going forward. The character he plays is Maxwell Lord, who has important ties to the Justice League as a businessman…but whose side is he on in this universe?

4.

Another interesting appearance in the movie is the character Rick Flag Sr., played by Frank Grillo. Much like the MCU’s Nick Fury or Agent Coulson, his complex character will connect different media, and he has already appeared in shows like Creature Commandos and Peacemaker.

5.

A notable feature of this film is the appearance of the Hall of Justice. This is a significant easter egg because the audience can infer that the meta-humans are not only present, but may have been around for decades. It’d be really cool to see a Watchman-style version of the first wrinkle of the Justice League.

6.

Although brief and in the background, we see the Justice Gang (Working Title) fighting a “Dimensional Imp,” a species that appears in the comics, most notably in the form of a character named Mister Mxyzptlk. It just shows that all doors are open for possibilities in this new DCU.

7.

During the evacuation scene in the third act, you can spot a Gotham City road sign, home of one crime-fighting bat.

8.

A big shocker was seeing Jor-El played by Bradley Cooper, who played Rocket Raccoon in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. Until I hear confirmation from Gunn that Jor-El is indeed dead, I anticipate a father-son showdown in a future film…which could be glorious and new for the character on the big screen.

9.

If you recognized the voices of the Fortress Robots, that’s because you have probably heard them in other popular films. Alan Tudyk (Rogue One, Resident Alien) voiced Gary. Other robots were voiced by Michael Rooker (Yondu in GOTG) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis in GOTG).

10.

The original Superman, Christopher Reeve, has his legacy live on in this film, with his son Will Reeve making a cameo as a reporter, which is also his real-life occupation.

11.

For any baseball fans out there, we have confirmation that the Metropolis Meteors are the canon major league baseball team for the city. I found it interesting that James Gunn used the Cleveland Guardians font for the team…biased much? (Gunn’s favorite team is the Guardians lol)

12.

Look! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s a Big Belly Burger sign! The first appearance of the burger chain dates back to 1988 in Adventures of Superman #441.

13.

Tall, dark, and Martian isn’t Lex’s type? Well, DC Comics has a pretty famous Martian that will definitely not be his type. This could have been a cute nod to Martian Manhunter, a member of the Justice League.

14.

One of the weirdest characters was Mister Handsome, a failed experiment by Lex, who was used as a mystical ferryman, much like Charon in Greek mythology. A photo of him actually appears on Luthor’s desk.

15.

The “Monkey Drones” as bots farming hate is not only relevant for today’s social media addicted folk, but could also be looked at as a knock against the weird tribalism among Superman fans.

16.

We get a quick glimpse of an image of what Borvia/Luthoria would look like after the invasion and colonization of Jarhanpur. Land has consistently been a motivation for Luthor in both the comics and movies. He also has bigger aspirations in the States.

17.

United States President Lex Luthor? Well, not yet, but even the way he dresses for his appearances on slanted political talk shows suggests that the “brain” of Metropolis wants to continue gaining power through his wealth and influence. His arrest would certainly mean he can’t run for office…oh no.

18.

Green Lantern Guy Gardner is from Earth. So, although brief and simple, it was cool seeing a Lantern use a giant baseball bat, a sport often referred to as America’s pastime, to visually show that Guy is indeed one of us. Which also has a great impact, seeing Clark’s childhood room, where an alien was raised with values and Earthly interests like the rest of us.

19.

Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor in the series Smallville, voiced one of the Raptors.

20.

GBS News refers to the Galaxy Broadcasting System, a television empire often depicted in DC comics as a means of delivering the news.

21.

And lastly, the credits are a great nod to the original Reeve Superman films. Not only was it nostalgic, but it looked sick as heck. Took me back to Batman Forever. Neon lettering just smacks, man.
