“When my daughter was about 3, she told us she didn’t want to sleep in her room anymore. She said a little boy stood in the corner of her room, looking at her sometimes. She described him quite well: small, white, messy blonde hair, wearing a red jumper, white socks, and no trousers. Years later, we realized the local school uniform had a bright red jumper. A few years later, I was talking to my older neighbor, who had lived in her house opposite mine since 1973. I told her the funny story about the little boy. She frowned and said, ‘Are you talking about Alan?'”
