The ensuing and nonstop chatter has even spilled into discourse around Another Simple Favor, the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s A Simple Favor directed by Paul Feig (who also did the first one, as well as a lil’ film you might know called Bridesmaids).
Last month, Paul had to take to Twitter to deny rumors (one tweet, really) that the film had been shelved indefinitely by Amazon MGM because of Blake’s legal goings-on. “This is total BS. Sorry,” he posted. “The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”
Obviously, Paul wasn’t playing around — because yesterday it was announced that Another Simple Favor will open the SXSW Film Festival on March 7 before hitting Amazon Prime Video on May 1.
When Paul announced the film’s imminent release on his IG, the comments section quickly became an absolute disaster. Basically, whatever stupid comment referencing Blake and Justin’s lawsuits that you can imagine — someone said it.
One commenter asked, “is it Paul Feig’s cut or Blake’s cut?” — referring to the fact that Justin and Blake had put together separate cuts of It Ends With Us to present to Sony (Blake’s cut eventually won out). You can see that comment here.
Paul wasn’t having it. “It’s my cut,” he replied. “There is no other cut. Blake has been nothing but supportive and a dream to work with.”
“She is the best and an amazing collaborator and I’m her biggest fan. Just wanted to clear that up.”
