Behold! The first image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider series has been released into the world.
Production has now begun on the Amazon MGM Studios series, which is based on the video game franchise of the same name. Details are pretty sparse for now, but we know that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner.
Earlier today, Amazon released a first look at Sophie in her wardrobe test for the show, taken on the backlot of the Tomb Raider production stages:
Other cast members include Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein. Try saying them all in one breath!
Of course, Lara has been portrayed in live-action movies before — by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in 2001 and 2018 respectively. In terms of more recent adaptations, the animated Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft has been chugging away at Netflix since 2024.
What do you make of the look? LMK in the comments.
