“I’m a Day Trader, earning around $400k a year, with my best year bringing in $520k. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Film with a specialization in Screenwriting from one of the world’s most prestigious film schools. I never worked in the industry and don’t intend to. Before graduating from college, my screenwriting teacher showed us a film featuring other writers discussing how broke they were and the struggles of the industry. One of them mentioned that he was doing quite well as a Day Trader, which allowed him ample free time to write. This always stuck with me.”
“I rewatched the film Ocean’s 12 several years later, where the character played by Elliot Gould managed to avoid losing his money by investing. His line, ‘Do you think the stock market is beyond the realm of human possibility?’ inspired me, and I knew I had to give it a try. I made $300 on my first trade with a $ 1,800 account, despite not really knowing what I was doing. That’s a 16.67% gain. I was hooked. I lost it all shortly after, but the love had set in.
It took me five years to become consistent and profitable. The first two and a half years were spent just learning. The last two and a half were about learning to control my emotions and defining my trading style. Now, life is a dream. I usually work three hours a day, and take days off when I need. I travel the world and have time for all my passions. Right now, I’m learning to weld just for the fun of it.”
