“When a child is delivered by C-section, most of the time (in the US at least) the mother is fully awake through an entire major surgery, when layers of skin, muscle, and organ tissue are cut open and pulled aside. People will peer into her living insides while talking to her, as her organs to pulse, bleed, etc., while she experiences varying levels of sensation/awareness of the proceedings. (Including, in a some horrible cases of medical error/carelessness, excruciating pain.) I know one person who watched the proceedings through a reflection — she saw inside her own cut-open uterus.”
