24 “What The Hell Just Happened?” Stories That Not Even Skeptics Can Explain

24.

Finally, “Back when I was about 6 or 7 (mid’90s), we got a kitten from the local animal shelter. I’d always had a deep love for animals and felt a strong connection with this little guy, which is why we took him home. He was what you’d expect from your average kitten: loving, playful, rambunctious, and a tad mischievous. He would regularly cuddle in my lap and sleep in bed with me at night. I, however, was the only one in my family he did this to. Apparently, he would terrorize my parents and younger brother, often scratching and biting them. I thought it was him just playing and being a kitten, but it got to the point where my parents couldn’t take it anymore and were worried for my little brother, who was quite young at the time. They ended up bringing him back to the shelter. I was devastated.”

“A little while after, when I was tucked in bed, I heard the sound of my bedroom door opening slightly. I was still awake as I had only recently lain down, and my mom had just left my room after saying goodnight. Immediately, I felt like something strange was happening, so I did what any kid would and pulled the covers over my head. I start listening intently and could hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet heading towards my bed.

At this point, all my hairs were standing on end, and I was thinking, What the hell is going on? I knew the cat was gone, but this is what he’d do every night. He would come in, jump up on my bed, and sleep on my pillow. Sure enough, I then felt something land at the end of the bed and walk up towards my head. I could even see the depressions in the covers from underneath the blanket, and felt the force of it pushing against me. I finally mustered up the courage to look when it got to about my chest. I whipped my head up over the sheets, but nothing was there. I still remember it like it was yesterday, and I’m in my thirties now.

Years later, I found out that the shelter they sent my cat to wasn’t a no-kill shelter. I haven’t heard many ghost stories about animals or pets, but I like to think it was him sleeping with me one last time. To top it all off, he was solid white with blue eyes, so we named him Casper after the friendly ghost from the movie that we had recently seen.”
