Celebrities have undoubtedly influenced consumerism in America and abroad. Although most Americans are simply struggling to stay afloat, it’s difficult to ignore the flagrant displays of wealth of the rich and famous, who, more often than not, appear completely detached from the regular person.
Celebrity wealth has often been a topic of discussion, and so has how they decide to spend their money. We’ve seen stars go broke after living a life of opulence in the limelight. We’ve also seen many others who fear that outcome and keep their finances in check.
It recently had me thinking about some of the celebrities who are absolutely obnoxious with their purchases, and those who, even with extraordinary wealth, manage to cut coupons and prevent themselves from blowing a bag. Jay-Z’s life cannot be described as anything but luxe. The billion-dollar net worth has afforded him a life of opulence, including a Basquiat painting, a $200 million mansion in Los Angeles, and loads of other valuables that only someone of his stature could afford.

Perhaps, there’s no one else who flaunts their wealth as grossly as Jeff Bezos. Despite Amazon employees complaining about horrible working conditions — and his stance against unions — Bezos has no problem showing out his $500 million superyacht or Blue Origin, his rocketship company that recently sent Katy Perry, Gayle King, and several other women to space.
